Every now and then I like to put together a little surprise party for the kids when they get home from school. They are always nice when life gets busy and with two birthdays sandwiched between Christmas, the holiday season is one of the busiest times of year for our family. The excitement when they walk in the door and see the table all set up is one of my favorite moments!
Our set up this time was fairly simple I ordered some adorable decals from Hot Press Designs to make shirts, bought a premade cookie decorating kit, and made printables for the décor (you can get your free set below!). Add some holiday music and the party can get started!
First up was the shirts, Hot Press Designs offers high quality iron decals and when I saw these cookie ones the theme for the whole party was set. I mean, how perfect is this?! The process of applying the decals was so simple and only took a few minutes. I let the kids place the decals on their shirts and took care of the ironing so there weren't any burns to worry about. I also took advantage of Hot Press Design's holiday sale and got the Merry & Bright decal for free, we are loving this tea towel to add a little cheer to the kitchen!
From there we went on to cookie decorating. Pro tip- keep things simple! I know making cookies from scratch seems more magical, but once I started thinking of the mess and coordinating clean up and getting crafts out I was already exhausted! Enter the premade cookie decorating kit, everything you need premade and perfectly packaged. A mother's dream come true :)
Of course, it wouldn't be a true party in our house without some sort of artsy thing happening. While our printable coloring sheets from this month's bow box would have been perfect at this point we had already colored many of them. So, a quick Google search later we had these cute gingerbread man coloring sheets instead. Add our Periwillow art supply rolls and the mess was kept to a minimum. (P.S. check out that bow/art supply roll combo!).
The hot cocoa bar was set up the entire time and while the décor may have been more for me, the kids did like having the jars full of toppings to add to their drinks!
